Mr. Bence Szepesi is a twelve-time prize-winning artist (Germany, Japan, Italy,
Hungary, Belgium) and has performed in more than 27 countries (USA, Canada,
Japan, South Korea, Georgia, Qatar, Mauritius, Russia, Israel, China, Taiwan,
South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, France, Colombia, etc.).
He graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and from the Academy of Music Paris, France. Prize-winner of the International Clarinet Competition in
Ghent (Belgium) in 1993, scholarship holder of the „Marine Band of the Royal
Netherlands Navy” in 1995, and in the same year invited concertmaster of the
WASBE IYWO Orchestra in Hamamatsu (Japan).
Solo clarinetist of the BDZ Symphony Orchestra Hungary since 1992, artistic director and founder of the Budapest Saxophone Quartet. As a member of the Budapest Saxophone Quartet he has won prizes in 6 international (Italy, Germany, Japan) and 3 Hungarian competitions.
He is a juror at national and international (Italy, Slovenia, Israel, Slovakia, Poland, Serbia, USA (New York, Los Angeles, Florida, etc.) clarinet and saxophone competitions, and has been giving master classes on more continents. In 2022 he was a jury member of the Naumburg International Saxophone Competition in New York.
He is a founding member of the EuroSAX International Saxophone Ensemble and a member of the New Hudson Saxophone Quartet in the USA.
He has performed as a soloist with orchestras in Hungary, Spain, Italy, Poland, the
Netherlands, Russia, Georgia, South-Africa and Colombia.
In 2009 he was the saxophonist of Ennio Morricone’s orchestra in Asia, Africa and Europe, and has also performed with world-famous artists such as Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Quincy Jones, Sting and Andrea Bocelli.
Between 2000 to 2010 Mr.Szepesi was an exclusive artist for Selmer Paris, and is currently an artist for D’Addario (USA), Frank Hammerschmidt (Germany) and BG France.
Artisjus Award winner (2010), and professor of saxophone at University of Miskolc, Hungary. Country Chair for the International Clarinet Association and former president of the Hungarian Clarinet and Saxophone Society. Founder and artistic director of BalatonSAX International Summer Saxophone and Clarinet Academy.
Mr. Szepesi made his solo debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2018, where he
has since four solo concerts. He has performed to great acclaim at the Katzen Art Center (Washington DC), Chicago Cultural Center Preston Bradley Hall,
Esplanade Concert Hall (Singapore), Malaysia, Taiwan, Bangkok.
